Overseeding Your Lawn

If a lawn has had major weed infestations, heavy thatch buildup, or compacted soils and steps have been made to correct any of these situations, then overseeding is a good option.

Prior to applying a high-quality grass seed appropriate for your existing lawn, the soil is loosened. Once soil preparation is complete the seed is put down at the appropriate rate and a special fertilizer suitable for new grass seedlings is then put down.

The next step is watering the lawn lightly and consistently over the next few weeks to prevent the soil from drying out. New grass seedlings can be severely damaged with any shortage of water.
